mahatma gandhi limited edition pens

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 140th birth anniversary Montblanc launched limited edition commemorative fountain pens. The price for such a pen started from $24763.
241 fountain pens were to be sold indicating the number of miles walked by gandhi ji in his famous salt march in 1930.The pens are handmade, adorned with Gandhi's signature and a saffron-colored opal. They come with an 26-foot golden thread that can be wound around the pen to invoke the spindle . The pens also come with a commemorative booklet of inspiring Gandhi quotes.

But this move by the company led to anger and frustration amongst the Indians as they thought that the product did no justice for the man who believed in simple living and shunned foreign made products.

Many lawsuits were filed against the company by various individuals and organisations and the distribution of the pens was halted.

Recently the sale of such pens has been discontinued in the country by the Kerala High Court.
